On Independence

Enjoy Asher being truly adorable.  And ignore my gravely voice, I am sick :-(

It is super weird to have the 4th of July on a Wednesday, when one has to work all day Tuesday and all day Thursday... just FYI.  On top of it all, I have one awful cold/allergies/bronchitis delightfulness going on.

On the actual 4th, we went to a party at a friends' of ours.  Matt was otherwise occupied, so after 5 hours of cooking, I went with Asher (AKA little hurricane) and Valerie alone.  We spent 2 hours, but I was just too hot, tired, and starving to chase Asher around as he... oh, was pushed down a hill on a riding toy- and not just any hill, one with huge rocks all the way down- straight into a propane tank, then into me, cutting my leg and making me bleed... a 10 minute disappearing act, disrobing completely, saying he NEEDED to be naked... yeah.  I did not stay long, but I brought good things to that party.

This cake (here)

Water balloons

These potatoes (a DELICIOUS side dish does NOT get cheaper OR tastier, WOW).
I love their home- one day, I will have a home like this
Second of July moon (yep, learning my camera is divine!)

The third of July, we went to a different friends' home to eat and watch the Massanutten fireworks... and blow bubbles

What an incredible home
Massanutten fireworks

Asher happy as can be with his outfit from Kari, one dimple, and bin filled with water balloons
We got home close to midnight and Valerie was here- I took this awesome photo of her- it suits her so well

We saw the end of the Luray fireworks- they were the best I have seen in a while.

July 5th fireworks at home- look at the joy in Asher's face

The "loud" ones

Light painting is awesome

Asher circles his daddy- so much fun!

We are so grateful to live in a free country and I can not help but think about those in my life who have served in the military to sacrifice to ensure our freedom. Thank you to my brother, Michael, my grandfather, Jerry, my uncle, Ron, and my friends- especially helicopter pilot extraordinare, Sherri, and Joel, and Sara's husband who was in a fire fight in Afghanistan last year. Thank you all. We are so grateful.
