Those Teeth...

Not my favorite day.

Of course, I am so grateful for being able to have fillings and insurance, and flexible spending to take care of these things, but Asher had 7 fillings, 2 caps, and a tooth pulled.  Now, I am a hard one to shock when it comes to children's teeth.  Valerie had 6 or 7 visits to the dentist with 2-3 fillings/caps each time from age 4-8, but I was just shocked at Asher's first dentist appointment last spring.  It was so much work that it had to be done at a hospital, under sedation.  That is insanity.

I was super scared, almost to the point of canceling it, the night before.  I get scared about anesthesia, and Asher was not supposed to have anything to drink after midnight.  He coughs and chokes when he does not have enough to drink... Needless to say, Tuesday was a long night.

He got called in early because someone else's mom cancelled (and I don't blame her one bit).

I am grateful he was called in early- less time to be without a cup to drink from.

Asher was very curious and calm, the dentist and nurses loved him.  This is all according to Matt because I was at work from 8 am- 8:30 pm... which stunk, to be honest.  I was a nervous wreck.

He was in surgery for 2 hours and took 2 and a half more to wake up (see above concerns about anesthesia, Valerie is the same way with it).

When I got home, at nine, his eyes were red, his face puffy and pale and I felt terrible.  He looked pretty awful.  I held him all evening, and let him sleep in my bed while I slept in his (squeaky, twin with an unkind mattress).  Thursday morning, praise God, he was back to his silly, normal self.

I am so grateful this ended well, but man... why can't my children have MY teeth! NO PROBLEMS EVER!!
