Weekend Fun

This weekend was definitely more fun than most for our family.  It was opening weekend for the Green Valley Bookfair a couple miles away.  We LOVE going and the leaves are coming out, and it's in the valley, sooooo... It is a beautiful drive, really amazing selection of books (For super-cheap) and this time, they had the 2 Charlie Bone books Matt has been wanting for a year, lots of Sandra Boynton books, the rest of a series Valerie is reading, and another series that all the teeny-boppers were crowding around, so I got those too.

We actually did not even get out of the children's, young adults, and cook book side.  I dont have time to read much right now anyway.  We were behind someone who had flown in from California to buy books that she will ship home for her school.  She bought $4000 worth of books and said it saved her $20000

After that, I went to the Dayton Farmer's Market.  I had never been (how can this be?) but I was totally in awe.  I will definitely be going back.  Dayton is a community of mostly amish people and they are amazing and resourceful and MAN, is their food delicious.

Watch out, Auntie Annie

I got roasted root vegetables, macaroni and cheese and Texas BBQ (so delicious)

There is a chocoolatier

Amazing fresh cheese, yogurt, butter... and...

FANTASTIC baking supplies.  I was (and am still) in awe.

Homemade soaps

THEN! Katy came over and helped me make THESE!

They are based on THIS POST.  I must say, ours turned out better, and that is thanks to Katy's expertise and artistic talents.

I also have been learning how to actually use Photoshop CS5.  It is definitely not intuitive and it is also not easy, but I am getting photos to look the way I want them now- in a way that I would have framed and put on my wall.  It has been a fun couple weeks, but I "get" what curves means, masks... brushes, overlay... I get it now.  It is so much fun, but definitely, I am taking too much time right now.  Soon though, hopefully I have will have a few tricks down that will allow me to do things more-quickly.  I am now editing photos I have already taken.  In a few more weeks though, trust me, I will be taking photos like I am obsessed.  Spring is waking up here.

Before and After

Before and After

Finally, I taught a lesson on Priesthood and the church today. That was tough for me.  It is hard to teach about something that you have very little experience with in life- no fathers or brothers- a husband for a few years, but with whom, despite doing things "right," having such struggle.  It was rough, but  there were plenty of other sisters who have had nothing but awesome experiences who were able to share their thoughts and experiences with everyone.  I brought them all the awesome cookies to share, so it was nice.
