I found out this week, I get to go to a week long conference at Janelia Farms near DC. It is a Howard Hughes institution, so that is very exciting. It is going to be dealing with genomic annotation- specifically, viral genomes. I taught a class on this last spring, so it will be really great to add to what I learned for that. It is a very modern architechure, and I love the modern style of crisp, clean lines and lots of windows.
You better believe, I will be taking a lot of photos. This is one beautiful place. I am star-struck by anything Howard Hughes as well, so you can guess that I was giddy when I got the approval to attend- and I hear the food is really, really good (bonus).
I will miss Matt and Asher though, that is the only drawback I see, for sure.
In other news, this has been a really great week. I have not been getting much sleep (which is sad since it is the end of daylight savings time, and I normally feel very well rested for a week or so), but things are ok.
I have been working on being aware of all the things I have in my life, and that is a major bonus. I have been blessed beyond measure. Even things that are stressful and trying have made me so much more appreciative when things are really nice, and I don't have to worry. I look forward to really being grateful to not having to worry in the future. :-)
Asher has been singing and dancing and playing a lot. He is doing very well during the day with potty training too. It really has taken a lot longer than I wanted, but he is doing it in his own time. I have always wanted him to be the one to make the decision (you know what they say about kids stressed by potty training, I have enough parent guilt, thank you).
Life is good, and very, very busy.
