Holy week and Easter were exhausting. There was a lot going on, to say the least. There was drama from my moms' board that I am no longer a part of, two track meets, Valerie got a haircut, there was a young women spaghetti dinner fundraiser, Relief Society meeting in Waynesboro, and Sunday was Easter. I decided a couple weeks ago to host an Easter dinner. Holidays can be lonely with no family once you are in a family ward for church, sooooo... I thought, there must be others who feel lonely like me and you know what? I was right 30 people came to our house after church for food, fun, conversation, an Easter egg hunt... It was magic to see people come together like that. Everyone had someone they had not met that they had a fair amount of conversation with. I had students, former student-turned-professor, student who graduated and lives an hour away now...church friends, sister/friends and it was a joy. I heard "it was so nice to talk with the girls" and "it was so nice to talk with the guys" and "it was so nice to talk with someone in grad school..." What a great idea that was.
I am so grateful for inspiration and answered prayers. I made a ham (actually TWO and I forgot to take one out of the oven, we have A LOT of ham in the freezer now), funeral potatoes, wild rice and corn casserole and an amazing Thai Chicken salad knock-off a la California Pizza Kitchen. There were many, many amazing foods brought as well. Everyone had their fill to eat and I am still enjoying the left-overs with my family.
Saturday night and Sunday, were great spiritual experiences for me. I feel, in many ways, reborn since a really ugly experience involving my ex. Crazy enough, he saved my entire relationship with Matt, the church, etc. It is just incredible. That experience showed me exactly how absolutely BLESSED I am with such incredible people in my life. For that, I am grateful.
