Packing it All In

We dont get many weekends at all that Matt is not working, so when there IS one, I have lots planned.

I hosted a baby shower for my friend, and Asher's baby sitter Saturday.  We had a LOT of people over.  I got a lot of compliments on the food, which made me happy.

Tawnya has many people who love her and that is the best feeling of all

This is Jet, he is 5 weeks old and we are good friends now.

There were lots of kids playing while the moms spent some adult time together. About 10 total, this is about half of them
After that, we made a mad-dash to meet Bri, and my friend Joseph whom we had not seen since he left on his mission.  We spent a fair amount of the afternoon at the park, in hopes of tiring Asher out.  Asher was SO HAPPY and CONTENT.

Balloons I found went EVERYWHERE, even down the slide ;-)

Our plan, though a good one, did not work out.  Asher was up till 2 am.  I woke up at 3, 4, 5 in such pain.  I think because I was outside with all the pollen for so long, I was dealing with that stuffiness, but my body was making anti-me antibodies and my joints were (are STILL) so incredibly sore.  Asher slept till 10, so we all slept in, and we missed church.  This is becoming too frequent, but he is just not tired at a normal hour.  We can close him in his room to cry, but the bottom line is, he just is not tired.  He goes all day, full-speed ahead with no nap and is just. not. tired.  And he is also too young to be expected to be quiet for hours on his own. Maybe next year at this time...

I was feeling a little sad about missing church, so suggested we take a drive to the mountains, which is one place I always feel the Spirit.  Valerie was with her friend, so it was just Matt, Asher and I.  Asher was, once again, just thrilled.  He LOVED the spot we went to (my favorite on the Blue Ridge).

I'm looking rough, it hurt to even lift my arms to brush my hair, but I did my best and did not even attempt make-up ;-)

Loves "his" mountains. A couple who was there at the same time was calling him the "Elf of the Mountain"

Today (Monday)  IT is HOT and HUMID with more to come.  This is really the first of summer we have had here.  It is a little insane, actually.

We have taken Asher to the pool and he loves it, but flips out about not being able to jump off the diving board.  Sigh.  Two year olds and their unreasonable nature...

There were so many people at 1- an hour after opening- that the pool owners had to turn people away.  How sad is that?!

Anyway, things are good. I was asked at the end of the week to be part of yet another (this is the third) summer appointment as part of a nomination through work. This is a 2 week training (paid) position with meetings during the academic year. I would really love to do it, as it is in the area I am most interested in in terms of education. It would mean my summer would start July 29 though... and since classes begin on August 25 for me, I am not sure what to do! Most of my colleagues have been "off" since May 7th. I should not complain about a month off though, soooooo... I am trying to make a wise decision for me and for my family. Of course, two more weeks of work also means two more weeks of paying a baby-sitter and at $100 a week, it is more than a car payment, so... we must consider all aspects.

That is what is going on with us! I hope all is well with our friends and family.

What a handful Asher is. Delightful, but a handful. Maybe it's the hair - it worked with Samson - cut his hair and maybe he would get tired. Too cute.
