Sorry for the laxidaisical posting, friends. It is the end of the semester, which is REALLY CRAZY and I am teaching a summer class for the first time in my entire life AND I am embarking on freshman advising (which is it's own job, woot) too.
Here is a very quick over-view of life...
| Matt takes Asher to the park for a couple hours a day. In the summer, the pool will open, so he will get to go there too. This year, we are getting a pool membership. Yay for summer salaries! |
| Asher is still having texture issues- this is him SHIVERING at his first taste of watermelon. He is really funny about textures, but I am hopeful that with time, this will improve. Needless to say, it it was the only bite he took of his watermelon. That being said, his speech amazes me. He says lots and he says some funny stuff! Tonight, I was trying to take a nap (long weekend, too-early Monday) and he said "Mooommy--- where ARE yooouuuu? I LOOOVVVE you!" So adorable. |
| Matt and I celebrated our anniversary. I use the term "celebrated" loosely since I leave before he is up and at 'em and I am in bed when he gets home, but I DID stay up this night to have his dinner ready and fresh. Note the fancy Crystal Light and ghost candles ;-) |
Valerie is letting me do her make-up more and more, which is fun for me. I do have a talent for really nice make-up from time to time...
It makes me want to do my own make-up, and that has a good purpose too
Asher is showing more and more personality and it getting better at following rules (like no food outside of the kitchen).
Valerie got a short hair cut
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| We went to Abby's and David's to say "bon voyage" on Mother's Day as they leave successful, young newlyweds from DC to live in sunny California. LA even. Lucky ducks.I will say, that my Mother's Day did not even include a card, or breakfast or... anything, so that was interesting. Thanks to Abby and David though, I did not have to cook dinner. Winning! |
| David makes a mean burger on the grill- he had a little flame incident and when we were leaving, Asher touched David's forehead and said, "bye bye hot hair" It made me laugh. Asher cracks me up. |
| AND! He loves to make me laugh, his reaction to my laugh is to laugh louder, it was so adorable, I got Matt to take pictures of him making me laugh while I was driving. |

I also have
been eBaying, but that has gotten to be a VERY SLOW business.
We are blessed, we are happy, we are learning and loving and doing and we are so excited to have made it through the better part of this academic year. Valerie will be graduating to high school the first week in June, please be sure to congratulate her. She has excelled in school (with a few minor hiccups) and will be taking Algebra II and Latin as a freshman. Just like Mommy, and she didn't even know when she chose her electives. The hard thing is the grading scale here, a 94 is a B and an 82 is a D... so excelling is no minor feat- when I moved here in 9th grade, it shocked me! College was a great reprieve. That being said, however, I made all A's most of my high school career. Having to work that hard made all the difference in my life. I am CERTAIN that even that shaped me into the college student I was, the graduate student I became, and now the professor I am. As for Valerie doing so well, I am SO PROUD of her. GOOOOO VALERIE.

I love Valerie's short hair cut! And Asher's curls amaze me every time I see pictures of them. I didn't get anything for mother's day either, so I told Jason I was getting blogpress for myself. :) that's usually the way special occasions are in our house.
