Week Off-ish

Well, I was "off" this week, hah!! Actually, I went in every day but Monday and today (Friday).  I just have a lot to do and a lot of people have things they need from me.  I will be at Myrtle Beach next week though, so HAH! Also, I have no email access, thanks to the LOVELY computing branch of JMU.  So annoying.  I guess I will get that fixed Monday and hope no one desperately needs me for anything.  Sigh.  We have had a good BUSY week.

We got Valerie back Saturday.  She is REALLY GLAD to be home and we are so happy to have her back.

The heat continues (how I want to make climate change commentary, but I won't except to say: "It's REAL, BABY!").
We are finding creative ways for Asher to be busy inside.  I just cant be outside till dusk.  It is brutal out there with the 100 degrees combined with sky-high humidity.  Our $450 electric bill really was not too nice, however.

I got ME a present.  Happy  wow-you-worked-nearly-all-your-first-paid-summer-off to me.

We got to see Kayla, Betty, Kari and Matthew.  My heart aches for them.  Kari was my best friend for years until she met some guy who helps make movies like Iron Man, Independence Day and... Evan Almighty (which was filmed outside Charlottesville, where he met Kari).  He rescued her and they got married and live happily ever-after. She moved to Oregon.  They are filming a Marvel SuperHero movie in Pittsburg and Cleveland, sooooo, Kari made a trip home.  I <3 her!
  I miss her.

We went with them to the AMAZING family water park that is part of the Public Park system in Charlottesville.  I miss Charlottesville every day.

We got cupcakes.
Asher LOVES this water slide- we are talking LOOOVE

This is Matthew.  I have known him since he was a baby.  I LOVE this boy.  We are talking LOOOOOOVE.  He definitely made me want my own little boy someday.  Somehow, that wish came true with Asher.

That is about it for this week, except that I am getting ready to embark on a journey to get a PhD in assessment.  Shh.  I am sort of keeping it quiet still.  I am a LITTLE scared of all the statistics I will be taking, but I have a love and passion for it and spoke with the director for the Center for Faculty Innovation today and she was basically so happy and thrilled that she could not stop smiling and she already has plans for me when I am done.  Uh, wait! I need to process this fully first!

i love that pool/slide/water park. so, do you have to go through the whole PhD process, or will your past work count for some of it? I am excited for you. Have a great time on your v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n!

This is in a TOTALLY different field, so it will take some time, but since I DO have a lot of education, I can do it at the same time as I work full-time and (yay tuition waiver) still finish in a couple years.

Amy. WHAT. A. RELIEF. Take it from me, that is a REALLY WISE DECISION. I do have the great advantage for my performance here and proving myself, which is all I really wanted to do this past year. When Michael defends, it will be absolutely, positively worth it forever and ever and ever. The next year will be HARD, but he CAN do it (and so can you, love...)
