Last weekend in January 2012

It was another whirl-wind week. Honestly, this is such a busy semester. I am running more sections of Genetics and upper-level Microbiology than have been run before, that is a lot of preparation, and I am teaching viral discovery, and that is some time too. Things were good, for the most part this week. I won't complain.

This is Valerie in a "chocolate" mask.  Asher kept saying "why you put poop on your face?"  That was fun

He was really intrigued the entire time she had it on.  Valerie got her grades back.  For the first time ever, they have caused some serious concern.  Luckily, she is doing homework now, instead of telling me she doesn't have any.  It is going to take a lot of work to not have to repeat any/all her courses (except Algebra, in which is a rock star, go figure).

Asher enjoyed swimming again today.  He sits still, he follows directions, he waits for his turn... it is like another child over there.  I think sports will be Asher's focusing tool.  He minds and does what asked when we add a little "so we can go swimming" to getting dressed, or eating breakfast, et c., requests.  It is about time we had something that works...

After that, we went to the church to clean.  I mopped the moppable floors, then spent two hours cleaning the tops of all the doors, chalkboards, frames, paper slider thingys... I am actually sore! LOL.

Today (Saturday) was the first time I was home during daylight, so I got some outdoor shots of Misha.  Valerie is at her dad's this weekend, hopefully next weekend, we can get some pictures of her too.

Candra came over.  That was a nice break for all of us.  She had dinner with us and the missionaries, while Matt worked.

She even took Misha for a walk.  It was a really nice break for me.  It is hard to walk with a sled-dog and a toddler.  Lemme tell ya.

Finally, I am going to tell you about a little project at work.  I was approached in December about collaborating with a research institute here in town to determine the endogenous bacteria on and in :-) the bed bug.  Yesterday, I was brought 3 vials of the bugs and I transferred 4 from each vial into microfuge tubes to be tested.  Knowing the infesting capability, my heart was pounding, but each one is accounted for and the testing commenced.  I hope to have some results to share, but for now, it is an ongoing project.  By the way, they are not tiny and they are flipping freaky!
