Matt is mowing our jungle-like lawn, and I am going to post as much as I can today, because tomorrow, I have meetings all day, Thursday, the same (and a class), Friday the same, and Saturday, I am teaching all morning, so... no rest for the weary...
This will start from right before we left, and go backward.
| The (gorgeous) Salt Lake City temple earrrrrly Tuesday morning (today, 8/21) morning from the parking lot of Matt's parent's condo. What a fantastic location. |
| Bedtime treats- by the Sweet Tooth Fairy. This was one of the three things on "my list." The other two did not get completed, but I suppose that means I have to come back soon to complete those as well. |
| We spent Monday afternoon at the SLC zoo- it was actually really great! As hot as it was, there are lots of trees and periodic misters throughout the area. |
| This statue plays elephant-enhanced tunes and sends a "surprise" burst of water at those waiting. All the kids thought it was hilarious. |
| Asher measuring himself up to a juvenile orangutan |
| Asher is afraid of merry go-rounds... give him a roller coaster, fine, a huge water slide, fine, but he WILL NOT have anything to do with an up/down critter. However, he saw the "poppin' poppn' lemonade, commonly known as a PANDA on this ride, and HAD to get on, sure enough though, he FREAKED OUT, so he rode in the very cool snake sleigh. |
| Black swan- I had no idea they were real |
| Lola- saying, let's leave! It's hot!! |
| Asher saying, let's leave! It's hot! (LOL) |
| We made very good friends on this trip, when her daddy got up at dinner for more drink, Lola cried and reached for me. Awwies. |
| We had dinner at City Creek Mall food court- Red Iguana has awesome food. We sat next to the waterfall so that SOMEONE would be entertained. |
| After dinner, we rode the train around downtown Salt Lake City, which Asher loved. |
| We rode back to the City Creek Mall for one last go in the fountains. THIS time, we were not asked to clothe our immodest son ;-) |
| At nine, the mall closes, and the fountains have this amazing display timed to classical music. There is music, water, fire... all gloriously timed. I cheered at the end because I was so impressed. |
We walked through temple square on the way to the condo, and Asher REALLY wanted to go to this building (another thing we really must do next time). He said Jesus was in there and said "thank you for visiting my house."
Out of the mouths of babes...
SUNDAY:
We all went to church, then home for amazing Macaroni and cheese (I will add recipe, really, it was divine), then the departures began for everyone but us and Lola.
So.... I took some photos of this little one.
After Lola went to bed, Asher played with the toys at Gramma's and Grammpa's and he made this go Cuckoo a couple more times. He absolutely loved this clock, and the grandfather clock there.
