And Another Week

The last week of January was certainly an interesting one. It started off with a normal Sunday... until Sunday night, when I got a text message, then a frantic phone conversation with Valerie. She ended up staying with her friend, instead of at home last Sunday night. I have been pretty alarmed, but not really sure what I can do, so what I did do, was visit her Tuesday evening, just to talk. That was nice. I think she and I needed that time. Above all, I want her to always know she can trust me, I love her, and I will always be there. Always.

I really love this apron.  In a better financial situation, I would have bought it for Valerie, and the small one for all my nieces.  As it was though, I just asked Valerie to try it on in the backing aisle.

We then moved on to the little girl-sparkly hat section, and after that, I took her home.  I suggested she start going to therapy.  I realize that I just can not really be involved in the drama she lives with every day. That very thing (me expressing my opinion about it) it was was used against me in custody.  That being said, someone needs to be hearing what the girl is going through who is objective, because it ain't good.
Asher talked his teacher through this picture, she drew what he described.  The teacher gave it to Matt and said "it is Expedition Everest" but I am not sure what that is.  I would say Asher did a wonderful job describing his favorite roller coaster.

There was a happy celebration for a friend of mine at work.  I am so impressed by the effort put into making her feel loved.

Matt got a phone upgrade.  I am jealous, but whatever.  One day, I too will get a phone upgrade!

We started looking at a DNA sequencer for our department.  More on this later, but suffice it to say that this has been a really fun adventure.
Saturday, Valerie spent 6 hours in the salon, trying to get highlights.  Seems the last year has not been kind to her hair, and she will be going back for more this coming weekend.  It is progressing, but it is going to be a long, long haul getting it to where she wants it to be.
This is a joke based on a conversation with my cousin, Cari.  You have to understand the humor to understand the picture... but it was funny.

Satruday night, there was an a capella show, and I thought Valerie would love it.
She and Candra ABSOLUTELY LOVED it.  We had a great time listening to these talented students.  OF course, now we all want to be in an a capella group.  We loved Virginia Tech and a UGA group best, but man, the Bluestones are incredible too!

It was a great week, with lots of focus on family and memories.  That has been a main hope for my 2013.  Nothing matters so much as love and family, that is for sure.
