Normalcy

Today, it is back to normalcy.

The snow is manageable to the point that JMU opened on-time, though the kiddos were still out.  They have had SO MANY snow days.

It is good for me to get back into my routine though.

Janessa is improving.  She is making strides, it is hard to say right now what to expect, but I keep hoping for a full recovery.  She is so alert and responsive now that I think a full recovery is actually possible.  That just boggles my mind.  She is incredible.  The Drs are incredible, and all those sending to her love, hope, prayers and positive thoughts- they are all incredible too.

I am working on a "care package" for her.  I just want her to know that every step of the way, she is loved and cared about.  I want to get that out for her in the next week.

Work is insanely busy, as the students had 2 days off.  There is not any room in the schedule to just post-pone classes at this point, so we are trying our best to continue as planned and make up Monday/Tuesday.  That means, for me, I have a lot to do.   It is good though.  There is real solace in the proven measures of doing what I know.  I like pipetting, and running gels.  I like trouble-shooting and experimental design.

I HAD planned to be mostly absent next week, but with the snow days and the lack of oversight when I was in Missouri, I really need to be in next week to clean up the giant mess that is my lab suite.  There are also issues with water supplies, and experiments.  The good news is though, no students to interrupt when I am working.  That is also the bad news.  I love talking with them and dreaming with them.  Students keep me motivated and inspired.

Speaking of students, I was referred to as an undergrad again today.  I am sure I will miss that one day.  It is always a little awkward though ;-)  It always catches me off-guard.  I suppose it is good to look young.

I got some amazing sunset photos last night at sunset.  I have been waiting for good photos of the snow, but have realized that gray skies + snow does not equal good photos.

I think it will be a good week, though I am still very tired and my back hurts.
