While You are Sleeping

The last week has been interesting.  Every time I look at the clock, I add 6 hours.  What time is it in Spain, I wonder?

Of course this has been a busy week for me with work and preparing the college for a safety inspection, finishing up another class, prepping spaces for foam injection to lift the building (yes I am serious), playing with Asher in the evenings, tending flowers and new vegetable plants, not to mention the tumult in the mormon world (WOAH, what a week), but my heart is always thinking 6 hours ahead- toward Valerie.

She has had an emotional week, for sure.  It is hard to be away so far in a country whose language is mostly foreign.  It is hard to feel confident, but she has done great.  The first days were hard, but they are getting easier.  Before she knows it, it will be time to be in boring Broadway.

She is having a great time, it is hard though.  She misses her friends, her family, her dog, her bed... And I have gotten a list of things she wants for "dinner" when she gets back:

Wild rice and corn casserole (not bad, right?)

Caramel Macchiato Cupcakes

Fried Oreos and chocolate ice cream

Crepes with nutella, bananas and strawberries

Pumpkin/chocolate chip cookies

Nesquick.

I laugh, that is so funny.  She needs comforting food.  I know just how she feels.  It has been hard to have her so far away. I feel best when she is in bed, sleeping :-)  We have been having good conversations at 7 before I wake up Asher, so that has been great.

Things have been interesting here, for sure. I am so very happy that Asher likes Day Camp. That was major-league stressing me out.  I just want him to be happy this summer.  I kind of hate that he has to be in a day care situation all summer... I have a goal of having summers off... but he REALLY LOVES IT.  Like, a LOT! Every day, he is so happy.  When we get there, the kids are always like, "ASHER!" and that just makes me so happy.  He is still learning to read- we read every day.  I want him to read well by the start of school for lots of reasons, but one is so that he can look up things by himself :-)
