Saturday... Well-done

Today, I knew we had BINGO at Valerie's school... This is the BIG fundraiser to help fund Valerie's trip.  So far, we have worked at a fair for two days, a school dance, served muffins and juice at breakfast, helped sell BBQ chicken, sold frozen foods to our neighbors... and there are a couple fund-raisers left.  This one is the BIG one though.

I helped sell tickets, get donations, and at the entire 6 hour ordeal.  I also donated a family photography session.

Before all that though, we decided to try out the "pumpkin patch" and corn maze here.  It is literally five miles away.  I just wanted some nice pumpkin patch shots.  It was a St Jude's fundraiser today and they are near to my heart, so we went and it was truly just awesome.  We all- including Valerie and her friend- were totally entertained for over 2 hours.

Photo opp at work (oh yeah, I had to do that too).

There is a merry-go-round.  Asher spent the entire ride inspecting the cam shaft.  I kid you not.
I decided on this name last night as I fell asleep

Did I mention Asher did a lot of running?
It was a good (exhausting) day.  I am glad the BINGO thing is over, selling tickets, trying to get donations, and offering my services as a family photographer is nerve-wracking.  I have to say though... Guess what got the highest bids for the silent auction?  Yep, Sonlight Images.  I had many images of mine uploaded to a digital picture frame (that despite wanting badly, I can not justify, so I am returning it.  I got it just for this occassion after realizing 2 hours before the BINGO, I did not have enough time to have prints made, frame them AND make the brownies I had promised as a donation) and images of my photography name (Sonlight Images) and what the donated session includes...  All the same though, I can not believe it... my donation got the most in bids.  I am humbled and honored, not to mention- BRAND NEW at this.  I hope to make this into a real way to supplement our income.  I plan to do natural light photography and slowly build up to have a real studio with lighting, backgrounds, etc.  In the mean time, I am your go-to girl for natural light family photography.  It will no longer be for free... except for family.  And friends I love. ;-)

Crystal, that is so exciting!! You will be really good at that, you have such a good eye for photography. I love the name, too. That looks like a really fun pumpkin patch, wish we had one that close! Good job on the fund raiser participation, that makes me tired just reading it!

beautiful photos crystal. i think we have a digital photo frame that david bought from ebay, that we have never used. we will send it your way. that is a wonderful name for your photo business. i really, really loved the photos of the kids. i also really love that i know exactly where valerie and her friend were jumping. i hope the fund raisers are going well. does valerie get all the money from your donations? you are such a wonderful, caring, devoted wife and mother. we are so grateful for you, and love you so much. debby

Thank you all. It is one of those things. I fear that people will laugh at me when I say I would like to turn it into a business/hobby, but I do love it. I can not think of anything that I do that makes me happier than taking and editing photos. I have a student who is a photoshop pro, so I am going to have him show me how to do facial and eye enhancements.

I am really excited. I do love photos and I like the idea of using natural light and maybe having a studio with flash photography, etc in the future. For now though, this is perfect.

We get a percentage of all the fund-raisers. So depending on total raised and hours worked, we earn money that way. Since I have been at every fundraiser, it counts as 2 people for Valerie. I think that we will be ok, but I still am a little worried. Valerie's dad said he could give a $5 donation, so I am sort of like... wow about that. Anyway, it will come together. She may get no "Christmas" or "birthday" but goodness knows she doesn't need more stuff.
