I buried the post. It is still here, but the date has been changed. Here is the thing. An excuse can be made for anything. Lenny did not mean to scare the girl by petting her dress. Lenny did not mean to kill the puppy by loving the way its fur felt. Lenny... did not mean to break Curly's wife's neck. But because everyone felt sorry for poor Lenny (George, especially), nothing was ever done and horrible aftermath was the result.
Some disabilities and abilities are not choices and it would be super-great if everyone had that realization and stopped placing value judgements on peoples' circumstances as a measure of how good they are as a person. Let's just be open and honest and still able to have hopes and dreams, eh?

I removed my last comment, sorry. All I wanted to say was that the Lenny to which you are referring was mentally retarded and I don't think anyone is at risk of being murdered.
I thought on the way down from the elevator to my car that I would probably offend someone in exactly that way when my point was people can be dangerous without malicious intent.
Look, there are real issues. That is my point. I am not wishing ill on anyone, I am not calling names. I am saying there are issues despite all good intentions.

And PS. I am pretty sure no one who is bashing me will ever ask Matt to watch their kids for a week. And are we serious here!? No one's life is at risk?? 100 pound vicious dog?! A barstool at the stove for a baby to have total and complete access to?
