found this:
It was sooooo bland and after 40 minutes of hand-blending, I was not about to give up, so... Here is what I did to rescue it.
16 ounces dried garbanzo beans/chick peas OR 4 cans (15-ounce cans)
1/4 cup sesame seeds
2-4 cloves of garlic
1/4 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon salt or more, to taste
Brown sesame seeds in a tiny bit of sesame oil (the most amazing oil on this earth). When just browning, take from heat, and pour into blender container. Add 6-7 crushed cloves of garlic, add 4 undrained cans of garbonzo beans (chick peas). We made the mistake of draining/rinsing ours, that junk dont blend...
5 minutes in- Asher is amused!
10 minutes in, Asher is becoming anxious from the loud blending
15 minutes in, I entertain him and ease the anxiety by saying, "WHAT?! WHAT!?? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"
This distracts him 20 minutes in
25 minutes in... still going
30 minutes (and a REALLY HOT BLENDER!), we have all had just about enough.... so I added a little water and... blending was done.
When everything is "in solution" (as we scientists like to say), add the juice of two limes, a good tablespoon of salt and a splash of sesame oil (see above comment).
I am telling you- DIVINE- is the taste of this. I snip tiny slivers of fresh cilantro leaves to take it over the top and serve with fresh carrots, cucumbers and Stacy's NAKED pita chips.
I am taking this to the conference in DC tomorrow. SO AMAZING.
Trust me, I will never buy this pre-made again... well... ok, so I will, but I sure hope I make it more than I buy it
