Fun week

This week, I learned how to use a TEM- actually I learned how to use one from the 60s at Mary Baldwin, but it didn't actually even turn on, so... yeah.  Anyway, this is a virus at 249,000x magnified.  It is named Wookie.  You can see the collapsed head, tail, and even tail fibers.  So insane.  It was a spiritual moment, sitting there for me.  I can't find the file at home, but one virus had visible genomic DNA beside it.  That is insane, my friends.

I also had a monumental moment this week as well-  my students were presenting at a symposium and poster session.  That is pressure!  We were working long and hard on these presentations all week- I did not get home before 8 any day except Friday, and on Wednesday, I was out till 11.  YIKES

This is one of the groups and their pretty poster- look at the guy in front so overwhelmed by brilliance at the other poster...
He recovered for this picture- this is the other poster and one of my super-stars.  She actually gave an oral presentation too and ROCKED IT- like MAJORLY.  She had such enthusiastic questions and she did an amazing job.

I think these shoes, and inspiration from a certain source gave her confidence and a clear-thinking mind
SO, it was a really busy (but good weekend) at work.

Wednesday, it became crystal clear- as clear as anything else I have felt clarity with- that Valerie needed to go live with her dad.  It has been the first time in my life I have not seen her for this long and yes, I have cried, but it was just getting too out of control here.

So then, the weekend...

We took our time after swimming lessons.  Asher really loves this tunnel that goes under I-81.  It is a lot of fun for him to walk through
Everywhere is a place to explore with Asher involved
I had fun with makeup- this was a really pretty look, it looks a little wild, but it was not crazy
Wednesday, we had flurries, Sunday was almost 90 and humid

Asher performed at the Young Women spaghetti dinner/ward talent show- his talent?  ROARING like a dinosaur!

He was so cute when he got off the stage, he said "I DID it!"

These decorations reminded me of Atlantis at the Bahamas and Dr Suess

I won this in the auction- they are CUPCAKES!

I had two shoots this weekend, I am getting get photos I think I have when taken them.  I am ready to move on from this and really persue it this summer in this area.  I got some amazing photos of this family.  I am so glad they have these and I am so glad I got to see them in this environment- at home with each other.  This is a family that loves each other and that was a great thing to see.

THEN, Sunday night, I had to go back in to work.  Asher LOVES going to work with me.  When we move to the other side of campus next month, he might not be as excited without the amazingly shaded Quad... or the fountain... or the BELL TOWER (HE LOVES BELLS! He talks about them every time he sees any architechure that reminds him of a bell housing).

Wow, I cannot believe how grown up Asher is looking! I'm trying to make myself blog more. I want hard copies of my memories, my brain isn't what it once was! Those family pictures are beautiful!

Thanks, Amy! I miss you!

Dana, it is a good thing- my friend sent a box of clothes in size 6/7 and Asher wears them and they look completely fine. With any luck, we may get 2 springs/summers out of them. If they hadn't fit, he would quite literally, not have any clothes.
