Love

Three years of making a life together has filled my heart with love, joy, patience and often, yes, anxiety.

That being said, I know it does not get better than Matt and I and the love we have. I realize we have a lot more than most when I observe most of the marital type of relationships around me. Matt and I love each other and even better, we LIKE each other.

Take away financial security, job security, home security... and see where you are left... Matt and I realize that our strength lies in the Gospel, in each other and in our family.

If anything can be said for the last several years, we have learned a lot about wants and needs and we have become an amazingly-close family.

Yes, we all certainly hope that better times (with security in all the things we have been lacking) are ahead, but one thing is for sure. We are better FOR having banded together during those (many) times when all of those things were absent.

I hate to admit it but I know the anxiety you've felt over the last three years is mostly caused by me. But I feel that our love has deepened and we really have grown to like each other. A few years before I moved to the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, I saw this movie which oddly enough is called Shenandoah. It's a pretty old movie with Jimmy Stewart. At one point his daughter's boy friend is asking her dad for permission to marry her. I think now I understand the question he asked him. He simply asked him "Do you like her?" It's interesting that he chose to ask if he liked her not if he loved her.

I now realize how it's so important to like someone and not just to love them.

Thank you for being my best friend Crystal!
