Friday, I got visited by my visiting teachers. I will just say this. I have always liked the idea of having people dedicated to checking on you, making sure all is well, befriending you, etc, but I had a complete change of heart Friday. I have had the sort of relationship where you get a knock on the door and a baked good handed over and occasionally a newsletter in the mail with my visiting teachers (so, of course, that is how I visit teach too)...
My visiting teachers changed and now I have Terri and Olesyia. Olesyia just married someone in our neighborhood and she is from Russia. She is just a magnificent person. Her spirit is so sweet and magical. Everyone who sees her mentions it. She told me that Elder Bednar even told her something like that when she briefly met him years ago. It is THAT apparent with her.
It was a wonderful meeting and the tone of everything since then has changed because of the prayer that Olesyia offered. I can not explain it, but the things she said were just perfect. It was absolutely inspiration on her part. I think this was the first "testimony" building experience I have had of the spiritual importance of visiting teaching. We have not been able to continue getting a subscription of the Ensign, so she even left me her copy to read, which I really do appreciate. I always would read ours cover to cover the day it came in the mail.
I am so grateful to my visiting teachers, they were certainly my angels Friday.
Then my BFF came to visit. From Kansas City! I have not seen her in many months, but 2 weeks ago, I told her if she came, I would make this:

from Pioneer Woman- she did and I did. Tiffany even brought her mom, that was wonderful. Tiffany and her mom are one of the seven I wrote about late Friday night. She has been through some STUFF with me and never has been anything but an amazing friend to me. Her mother has been my mother. I love them both so much. They have really stepped it up and taken care of me and of Valerie when I needed them. Tiffany has such an angelic heart and a pure way with children. It is incredible to behold.
Tiffany's mom gave Asher a battery-operated candle. It has him ALL SORTS of confused, lemme say.
THEN our Relief Society president and her husband stopped by with a few groceries, which was actually really great, we are pretty low on food.
Saturday was spent outside and Valerie was at Busch Gardens, then last night we got a phone call asking Matt to meet the stake president.
Yikes.
He was called today as a Ward Clerk
Which totally brings this picture to my mind (or one like it).

Because that was how the first ward clerk I knew looked (sorta). Good think Matt's glasses are broken, otherwise...
Anyway, that was a lot better than my fear: Seminary Teacher or his fear: Elder's Quorum Presidency.
Whhewww.
Now Valerie is at her dad's and we are at home. Her grandpa actually did not get out of the car when he met us at church, he drove behind me and honked while I was holding Asher. Seriously?! Manners?! Anyone?? Anyone?? That was just rude. Woman holding baby and struggling with scriptures, baby, diaper bag and keys and you HONK to signal that you are in a hurry? Nice.
Sigh. So tomorrow... is the last day of May and it is supposed to be hazy, hot and humid. Bring on the fall.
