Weekend!

It must be said, Asher is a toddler who is extremely, EXTREMELY excited to be in new places. He explores, destroys, and investigates anything- especially if it is new to him. This is the second weekend in a row we have made a whirlwind trip to see family. Whirlwind because 1) Matt gets off work at 5 on Friday and 2) keeping up with Asher in someone else's home and trying to constrain him to a particular area is truly and utterly exhausting.

This is Asher today on the way home. I stopped many times to just let him play because he was NOT! HAPPY! about waking up and getting on the road. It took 9 hours for our 6 hour trip :-D

So: We got to Jacksonville at nearly 2 am.
We headed to the LeJeune beach for a couple hours, came home and recovered, had AMAZING manicotti a la Jennifer and tried to confine Asher's behavior then headed home again this morning.

Ick. One day. ONE! DAY! We will have a REAL VACATION with relaxation and REST! In fact, we would like to aim for next year with the Harry Potter park and all at Universal Studios...

Resting family. So. SO! Adorable!!

Daddy loves his girl~

Taylor loves her mommy. She is getting a little stranger anxiety, but she did let Matt hold her this morning and I got to kiss her, so it was a SUCCESS!

My family enjoying the sun and the surf. Lucky Ducks.

Stop messing with my hat, daddy!

This girl is SO CUTE!

He is way cute too.

He was actually the EASIEST to keep up with at the beach. Everything held his attention. It was a nice break.

See how everyone is playing?! Not me.

This is where I was. Lupus is not kind. The sun is REALLY not kind when combined with lupus. Seriously, it is a mess.

Anyway, it was a lovely time. Funny how the oppressive, 98 degree weather is so totally different at the edge of the ocean. I could have sat there for hours. I would love to have a portable tent next time. Wonder where I could find one of those?! I had to huddle under the umbrella, and hold it in the sand. The wind was pretty fierce. I had Valerie's clothes over my feet because I was too big for the shadow :-( of the umbrella.

This is a bonus, corteousy of Valerie. She was "helping me"

Matt showing me his mad skillz

Taylor love her mommy. I think her thumb-sucking is totally and truly adorable.

Sad day. These signs line the fences going into LeJeune. They are saying good-bye and welcoming troops home. The messages on them are so precious.

Oh yeah. There were three babies. 2 20 months and one 8 months. It was not bad, except for Asher and his pushing down. I was not amused by that at all.

Michael chilling. He MIGHT have the longest legs ever.

Asher was happy to be OUT OF THE CAR! Seriously, the boy was sooooo thrilled.
