ER visit

What. A. DAY!

Soooo, Asher got up extra-early and at 11, I told Valerie to watch him for an hour so I could sleep for a little while. Not 59 minutes later, she was telling me to get up (so nice). I got up, told her and her friend, Kayla I would take them to the pool after they cleaned the mess they made and went into the bathroom.

While in there, Asher started SCREAMING. I came out (not dressed) and asked what happened to hear "I dunno..."
So I picked Asher up and tried to figure out what was hurting and after 15 minutes of straight-up SCREAMING, Valerie told me "He picked up Kayla's straightening iron OFF THE FLOOR." So, his arm had minor burns down it but his left hand is REALLY burnt. Immeadiately, I saw the huge blisters and put ice on them. I called Matt to come home so we could take him to the ER. That took almost an hour, the whole time, I was holding an ice pack on his hand in my underware. I was hot.

The fun was that the hospital moved YESTERDAY so trying to figure out where to go was fun. Anyway, he SCREAMED for 3 hours. We have no tylenol/motrin and I stopped to get some, but everyone is sold completely out- even of generics.

The nurse gave him tylenol with codeine, then we put silvadene and guaze on him. It hurt him so much, that was AWFUL to see.

Anyway, after the Tylenol kicked in, he was marginally better. We got him an enormous balloon that was way too expensive, but my HEART WAS BREAKING and it made him smile!

He finally slept after 3.5 hours (3 of them SCREAMING) and he just woke up, feeling a little better. What really angers me is the excuses for why a flattening iron on the floor (carpet) is ok. Seriously, anyone could have just as easily STEPPED on it. Putting it on the floor (especially CARPET)... sigh.

Anyway, that was all sorts of fun today.

The good news is, he is out of pain now. It was rough and I need to learn how to wrap a little hand, but he is ok. That screaming was enough to make ME cry.

AND!

Krissy is stable again!! This baby just may make it to (and past?!) 25 weeks. Two miracles with her, I tell ya, it does my heart and my testimony of the power of prayer such good.

Oh my gosh, that makes me so sad :( I remember when Elliot did that, except I opened the oven and he raced in from seemingly nowhere and stuck his hand on the opened door. I beat myself up for a long time over that one!! I can't believe everyone was out of tylenol and motrin, that is crazy!! I'm so glad he is feeling better now and I'm so glad to hear that Krissy is stable. What a precious little miracle.

Thanks guys, honestly, I am just so so happy Asher is doing ok. Before I knew he was burnt and he was screaming, I was terrified he had internal injuries or something. That being said, I think burns are THE most PAINFUL injury there is. He is fine today, but he keeps trying to peel off the "ball" on his fingers and it is seriously upsetting.

He has gotten lots of loves from everyone and Valerie has shown all her friends his fingers. One thing is for sure, and that is that she has learned to watch out for her baby brother. She was a mess after her friend left- totally in tears and sorry for him.

Oh, poor guy! I shiver just thinking about it! Jackson grabed my flat iron a few months ago and it was up on a ledge. It is so sad when they do that. Burns are just so painful!
